Symposium Advances in Glycosciences - March, 5th & 6th 2024 Paris

Breakthroughs in glycomics, bio-orthogonal chemistry, and cryo-microscopy, among others, are driving the current boom in Glycosciences. These cutting-edge approaches, including the work of Nobel Prize winner Carolyn Bertozzi, provide insight into the glyco-world and its extraordinary potential in many areas.

For example, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has highlighted the key role of glycans in host-pathogen interactions and their potential as therapeutic targets. The understanding of glycan metabolism has contributed to decipher the etiology of many pathologies including infections, cancers, inflammation, etc. and to develop new therapeutic approaches. In line, glyco-drugs offer the possibility of designing more specific recombinant antibodies, novel antibiotics against multi-drug resistance or chemical chaperones for rare diseases. Additionally, monitoring glycan expression presents unlimited possibilities for the development of clinical markers in metabolic, inflammatory, genetic and infectious diseases.

This two-day symposium will focus on the latest developments in Glycosciences. Our aim is to offer an overview of the latest innovations and concepts in basic Glycosciences and their applications to biomedicine.

The conference is open to everyone and seeks to promote the translation of Glycosciences into a better understanding of biology. Additionally, it will provide a forward-looking view of the discipline and its potential in basic and clinical science.

A poster session will be organized and short talks will be selected.

Deadline for abstracts submission: February 15th, 2024.
